DSS provides Tk 1.15m for 22 chronic patients in Rajshahi

A total of twenty-two patients sufferings from various chronic diseases like kidney, liver cirrhosis, cancer and heart received financial support worth around Tk 1.15 million in Rajshahi on Sunday.

Department of Social Services (DSS) provided the support. Deputy Director Office of DSS organised the cheque distribution programme in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner.

On the occasion, 162 other students and affected people got support worth Tk 122,000 for treatment and education from National Social Welfare Council.

Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, addressed the ceremony as chief guest while Director of DSS Zulfikar Haider and social worker Shaheen Akter Rainy attended and addressed the programme as special guests with Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader in the chair. Deputy Director of DSS Rashedul Kabir welcomed the recipients.

In his remarks, Badsha said the present government has taken many steps for the welfare of patients to help them pass their days without difficulties.

"Considering their vulnerable condition, the government has launched allowance programme," he said.

The beneficiaries have been getting their allowance timely through their own bank accounts.
