Babumoshai Heritage is a West Bengal-themed restaurant situated in Dhanmondi. A Kolkata vibe is seen after entering the restaurant. Every corner of the restaurant is decorated with Bengali souvenirs that represent the overall Bengali culture.

This restaurant has created hype among younger stars. It is a unique restaurant for taking nice Instagram-friendly pictures. Babumoshai Heritage also serves delicious Bengali food besides the decoration and ambience. They serve authentic food in West Bengal/Kolkata. Besides, to match our Bangladeshi taste buds, they also serve fusion Bengali food.

Babumoshai Heritage offers various kinds of platters and also some individual items. However, the platter and thali are the most popular. We will start with the most demanding item on their menu, which is ‘Chui Khichuri’.

This platter contains khichuri, beef curry, fried eggplant, chutney and salad. The khichuri made of chinigura rice. This is prepared with a lot of spice, which makes it flavorful. Khichuri itself tasted delicious. The fried eggplant is regular in taste.

However, the beef curry is the showstopper here, which compliments the khichuri. It is cooked with chuijhal and whole garlic. They serve 3 pieces of meat, 2/3 chuijhal stick and a whole garlic. This is a decent beef curry, but it does not have the authentic taste of chuigoshto.

Last but not least, the tamarind chutney goes well with the khichuri. Freshly cut cucumber and green chilli were given as salad. The price of chuikhichuri is 360 Tk. This platter is an 8 out of 10.

Ilish is an absolute must when it comes to Bengali cuisine. ‘Ilishkhichuri’ is also a popular item on their menu, costing 350 Tk. It has the same sides as chuikhichuri, but here, beef curry is replaced with Hilsha fry.

Nothing can beat the combination of ilish-khichuri with some fried red chilli. The rating of this is 8.5 out of 10.

Another item from their menu is ‘Roast Polao’. The price is 310 Tk. It comes with plain polao, chicken roast, chutney and salad. The whole platter had a homely taste. The polao was neat and less oily, the chicken roast had a slightly sweet taste, and the gravy was provided in generous amounts. The rating for it is 9 out of 10.

One of their authentic dishes of West Bengal is ‘Luchi-Alur Dom’. It is reasonable in price, which is 140 Tk. It comes along with 3 big luchi, alurdom and chutney. The lunch was soft and flaky. The portion size was satisfactory. The gravy of the alurdom was thick and a little sweet. The potato cubes were soft, and the dish tasted great. It is a must-try item. It’s a solid 10 out of 10.

If you want to have something meaty with the luchi, another platter called ‘Luchi-KoshaMangsho’ will come to the rescue. On this platter, along with alurdom, beef kosha is served. This will cost 310 Tk.

Speaking of authentic food, Babumoshai Heritage serves authentic ‘DaabChingri’. It is on the expensive side, costing 480 Tk. A giant-sized prawn is served in green coconut. The decoration and presentation of the food are eye-pleasing.

The gravy is prepared with coconut water and small chunks. The shrimp was fresh, and the gravy was light yet delicious. 8 out of 10 can be given as a unique experience.

Apart from meals, they also serve snacks. Cutlets are very common in Kolkata but less common in Bangladesh. ‘Chicken cutlet’ and ‘Fish cutlet’ can be found here, which will cost 200 and 220 Tk, respectively. It comes with 3 condiments: tomato sauce, kashundi and tamarind chutney. Overall rating for the snacks is 7 out of 10.

Snacks are incomplete without Tea. ‘Masala Dudh Cha’ is on their menu costs 100 Tk. However, if you want to have something cold after a meal, ‘LebuPani’ and ‘Lacchi’ are there. The price of lebupani is 70 Tk, and lacchi is 120 Tk. They are refreshing, and sweetness is balanced in both drinks.

To end the meal on a sweet note, firni can be tried, which costs 60 Tk. These items were quite decent in taste but nothing extraordinary. An overall rating is 7.5 out of 10.

There are also some giant platters called ‘Mostothali’; they usually contain the previously mentioned items but are all together in a platter. These thali range from 430 Tk to 1050 Tk. Recently, the restaurant has launched ‘Mohabhojthali’, which represents authentic Bengali Thali containing bashmoti rice, various kinds of vaja, fish, mutton, matcha, roshogolla, etc. These thali will cost 800 Tk.

Babumoshai Heritage is a must-visit if you want to spend some time in a beautiful ambience along with some amazing mouthwatering Bengali food.
