13 get life term for Faridpur double murder

A Faridpur court on Wednesday sentenced 13 people to life imprisonment for killing two men in Saltha upazila in 2003.

Faridpur Special Judge Court judge Md Motiar Rahman also fined the convicts Tk 50,000 each. They have to stay in jail for six months more if they fail to pay the fine.

Besides, 14 others acquitted from this case, reports UNB.

The convicts are - Mannan Khan, Surman Kha, Majed Kha, Wajed Kha, Rashed Kha, Siddique Fakir, Soharab Fakir, Afsar Fakir, Fazlul Fakir, Rahman Kha, Rezaul Kha, Jakir Kha and Osman Fakir.

Of them 11 were present in the court. Soharab Fakir and Jakir Kha are currently absconding.

Faridpur Special Judge Court's public prosecutor (PP) Advocate Golam Rabbani Babu Mridha said a local arbitration was held over harvesting onion at Natkhola village in Saltha upazila on December 23, 2003.

During the arbitration, Ganjor Kha and Musha Molla were hacked to death following an altercation.

Musha's brother Alal Molla filed a murder case against 27 people at Saltha Police Station.
