20 families of five Bogura UZs earn livelihood by selling bamboos

 BOGURA, Aug 01: Vendors are making a good profit by selling bamboos on rickshaw-van.

Over 120 families of Dupchanchia, Gabtoly, Adamdighi, Nandigram and Sadar upazilas of the district are engaged with the profession.

Sources said one can start the business with Tk 12,000 to Tk 13,000 and it is possible to earn Tk 2,800 to Tk 3,200 per week.

In a recent visit to Haphat under Dupchanchia upazila this correspondent found bamboo selling on vans is a popular profession in the area. Customers purchase the item from them according to their necessity.

Each small -sized bamboo is being sold at Tk 120 to Tk 130, middle one at Tk 150 to Tk 160 and a big one at Tk 200 to Tk 250.

Vendor Aftab Hossain of Gunaher village under Dupchanchia upazila said he purchases around 20 bamboos daily from the wholesale market to sell in the local area.

He further said he makes over Tk 400 to Tk 500 net profit daily.
