BGB arrests youth with 12 gold bars in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a young man along with 12 gold bars weighing around 1.2kg from Putkhali border under Benapole Port Police Station on Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Abdur Rahim, 24, son of Yusuf Ali of Putkhali village of the area.

On information, a team of BGB conducted a drive at the place in the evening and detained Abdur Rahim while he was trying to smuggle the gold worth around TK 6.0 million to India, said Major Sohel Ahmed, Deputy Commander of BGB-21.

The accused was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station, reports UNB.

A case was filed in the regard, added Major Sohel.
