BGB nabs one with $ 32,000 at Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a Bangladeshi national along with $ 32,000 from passenger terminal area of the Benapole Check post on Wednesday.

The detainee is Awlad Hossain (35), son of Abdul Karim, hailing from Keraniganj upazila of Dhaka, a news agency reported.

Acting on a tip-off that a huge consignment of foreign currency was being smuggled into Bangladesh from India, BGB men conducted drive here in the morning and arrested the Awlad, said Lt Col Ariful Huq, the Commanding Officer of BGB 49 battalion.

BGB men seized $ 32,000 from his possession and handed over Awlad to the Benapole Port Police Station.

A case was filed in this connection.
