Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Monday destroyed a total of 2,000 water jars at different hotels and restaurants across the capital for selling untreated and unhygienic drinking water.
A BSTI surveillance team conducted sudden drives in the city's Sayedabad, North Jatrabari, Demra Road, Mir Hazaribag and Shyampur areas and tore down the substandard water jars, according to a statement.
The team also halted the unauthorised water production and sale of Bikrampur Drinking Water in Sayedabad, ST Drinking Water in Jatrabari, Energy Drinking Water in north Jatrabari, Sotez Drinking Water and Maa Enterprise in Shyampur.
