Chandpur teacher jailed for ‘defaming’ prophet

A court has sent a teacher of Chandpur Institute of Marine Technology to jail for making disrespectful remarks on Prophet Mohammad (SM) in a Facebook post.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Shafiul Azam of Chnadpur District and Sessions’ Judge Court passed the order after police produced accused Joydan, 48, before it on Friday afternoon.

Chandpur Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Ibrahim Khalil confirmed this, UNB reported.

Earlier on Thursday, a fourth-year student of the institute filed a case with Chandpur Model Police Station under Digital Security Act accusing the teacher of making derogatory remarks on the prophet (sm).
