Conviction rate in graft cases stands at 52.08pc

The rate of conviction in graft cases lodged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stood at 52.08 per cent in January and February 2019.

Besides, a total of 2,804 graft cases, lodged by ACC, are currently under trial in different lower courts across the country in January and February, according to the data provided by the anti-graft watchdog.

Among those 25 accused have been convicted, 23 suspects got acquittal and 48 cases were settled.

 286 cases were stayed by the High Court until the date.

The number of graft cases under trial in different courts stood at 2,832 last year, of which 338 cases were filed under the now-defunct Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC).
