3-day programmes in Rupsa to mark Tagore’s 163rd birthday

Three-day colourful programs have begun to mark the 163rd birthday of Nobel laureate Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore at his ancestral village in Rupsa Upazila under Khulna district.

Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif inaugurated the programmes on Wednesday morning at Pithabhog village under Ghatbhog union.

Rupsa Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kohinur Jahan and Rupsa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md Imdad were present at the inaugural programme, presided over by Ghatbhogh Union Council Chairman Molla Ahiduzzaman Mijan.

Tagore was born on May 7, 1861, in Kolkata.
