75,478 hectares of land come under Rabi crop farming in Sylhet division

SYLHET, Dec 08: A total of 75,478 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation of crops and vegetables in Sylhet division during the current Rabi season.
Potato, gourd, sweet gourd, radish, bean, tomato, cucumber, leafy vegetables, pumpkin, cauliflower, cabbage and brinjal are the most popular vegetable items this time.
Varieties of vegetable are cultivated on 18,750 hectares of land in Sylhet, 7,692 hectares in Moulvibazar, 13,200 hectares in Habiganj and 10,900 hectares in Sunamganj of the division.
Deputy Director of DAE, Sylhet, Md Abul Hashim said vegetables are being grown abundantly in the region.
Additional Director of DAE, Sylhet, Md Altabur Rahman said farmers of Sunamganj and Habiganj districts are showing their interest in growing vegetable for high market demand.
