Suresh Kanti Tanchangya, president of Bilaichhari upazila Awami League, was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on Tuesday.
Miscreants gunned down Suresh, 45, when he was returning home from the upazila headquarters by a boat along with his family members at about 8:30am, Rangamati Police Super Md. Alamgir Kabir said, reports BSS.
Armed miscreants halted the boat and opened fire on him, leaving him dead on the spot, he said.
The killing of Awami League leader occurred a day after criminals shot dead seven people, including two polling officers and four Ansar-VDP members and injured many others in Bagaichhari upazila of the district.
