Bus, truck collide head-on in Sylhet, killing four Ijtema devotees

Four people were killed and another 10 injured after a bus, carrying 30 Biswa Ijtema devotees, collided head-on with a truck on a Sylhet highway.

The incident was reported from Rashidpur Shatmail neighbourhood in South Surma Upazila of the eastern district.

“Around 7:00am Monday, the bus, with 30 people on board, was heading back to Sunamganj from the Biswa Ijtema (in Tongi). It slammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction due to reduced visibility from the fog,” said South Surma police OC Khairul Fazal.

Abu Bakkar, 50, Akbar Ali, 50, and Abdul Gafur, 45 died on the spot, reports bdnews24.
 
Locals rushed the injured to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, the OC said.

Another victim, yet to be identified, died at the hospital.
