Clinker-laden cargo capsizes in Meghna; 2 hurt

A cargo vessel carrying 1000 tonnes of clinker capsized in the middle of the Meghna River at Katakhali Majherchar area in Haimchar upazila in Chandpur on Friday evening.

The vessel 'MV Millennium-1 was headed to Narayanganj from Chattogram, said its master Shamsul Haque, reports UNB.

"My ship was hit by 'MV Shafatul Haq-2' when it was in the middle of the river around 7 pm," he said.

However, two staffs -- Nurrannabi, 25, and Nayon, 23-sustained injuries during the incident, he added.

Being informed police rushed there and rescued 12 inmates of the vessel, said Ranojit Roy, officer-in-charge of Haimchar Police Station.
