Coast Guard seizes shrimp fries, detains 6

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive seized some 600,000 shrimp fries from Nahalganj Ferrighat area of Barisal on Friday.

Six people were also fined over the seizure of the fries.

Upazila Fisheries Officer Sanjib Sanyamat said Coast Guard members with the help of upazila fisheries office seized two trawlers along with the fries and detained six people in a drive in the Kalabadar River.

Later, executive magistrate Nazmul Hossain fined the six detainees Tk 4,000 each, and released the fries in the river, he said.
