A fatal head on collision of two buses in Bogura in the early hours of Saturday has killed a man and injured 15 others.
The accident took place on Dhaka-Bogura Highway at Sherpur upazila’s Haripara area at around 4:00 am, said Humayun Kabir, chief of Sherpur Police Station.
The victim identified as Avi Alam Akash, 28, was a resident of upazila’s Puran Raira area.
“It was a Rangpur-bound Ena Paribahan bus from Dhaka which collided with Dhaka-bound Ma-Moni Paribahan bus from Kurigram. Akash, the driver of Ena Paribahan bus, died in the spot,” OC Humayun said.
The buses were confiscated by police and the body was taken to hospital for autopsy. The driver and assistants of second bus fled the scene, bdnews24 reported.
The injured were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Hospital in Bogura.
