Home Minister warns stern action against drug peddlers

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday issued a note of warning against the drug peddlers asking them to shun their illegal drug trade.

“You have time to shun all kinds of illegal drug businesses . . . The anti-narcotics drive will continue and no drug peddler will go unpunished,” the minister said while speaking at a gathering at Nojipur Sheikh Russel Stadium of Patnitala in Naogaon.

Referring to terrorism and militancy, Asaduzzaman said people of the country don’t want see any militant activities.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is relentlessly working to root out militancy from the country. She has now become the ‘World Model’ for curbing terrorism and militancy,” he added, reports BSS.

The home minister said the country attained tremendous development in many sectors and her government specially honoured the women folk in many places and also established dignity of Islamic scholars (Alem-Ulema) through taking pragmatic steps.

Mentioning different development activities of the present government, Asaduzzaman said, “What the Sheikh Hasina’s government did in last 10 years, no other government could do it after country’s Independence.”

The minister also said that those who siphoned off money to foreign countries during the BNP-Jamaat alliance government must get punishment as “the government has enough evidences of misappropriating money.”

Patnitala Upazila Awami League organised the meeting with Mohammad Ishak Hossain in the chair.

Naogaon district AL general secretary Freedom Fighter Sadhan Mojumder, MP, Jatiya Sangsad Whip M Shahiduzzaman Sarker, MP, upazila AL general secretary Abdul Gaffar and Nojipur municipality mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury Babu, among others, were present there.
