Two people, including a local Jubo League leader, were killed and three others injured when the private car in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a speedy jute laden truck at Arongghata intersection on Khulna bypass road on Tuesday night.
The accident left Sohel Rana (33), joint convener of Keshobpur upazila unit Jubo League and Rafiqul Islam (28), driver of the private car, dead on the spot, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Arongghata Police Station Kazi Rezaul Haque.
Three Police officials who were travelling to Khulna town from Keshobpur upazila in the car sustained severe injuries.
The injured were initially rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) and later two of them were shifted to Dhaka for better treatment, reports a local news agency.
