Lightning strikes leave two dead in Sunamganj

At least two people were killed in lightning strikes in separate places in Sunamganj on Wednesday.

Hridoy Das, 14, son of Lulu Das of Joynagar village in Chhatak upazila, died on the spot after being hit by a thunderbolt while netting fish in a haor in the village around 12:05pm.

Another boy, Ranjan Das, was also injured in the incident, locals said.

In another incident, boatman Mamun Mia of Pirojpur district died on his boat when a thunderbolt struck him on the Shurma river, said Atiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chhatak Police Station, reports UNB.
