Mango farmers in Satkhria will start harvesting mangoes of this season with Bombay and Golap Khas variety from Thursday.
As per the ‘Mango Calendar’ introduced by local administration, farmers in the district will harvest Gobindobhog mangoes from Saturday, Himsagar mangoes from May 22, Langra mangoes from May 29 and Amrapali variety from June 10, bdnews24.com reported.
Satkhira’s Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Humayun Kabir said they introduced the 'Mango Calendar' to uphold the reputation of mangoes and prevent the premature marketing of unripe ones.
