A prisoner, who fell sick in the district jail, died at a hospital here on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Monir Hossain, 27, son of Abdus Shahid of Ghatura area in Brahmanbari district.
Delwar Hossain, deputy jailer of the jail, said that locals caught Monir red handed from Chunarughat area while he was stealing on July 16. After giving a good thrash, locals handed him over to police.
Later, he was sent to jail on July 17, reports UNB.
As Monir fell sick early in the morning, he was admitted to Sadar Adhunik Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
