Successful poultry farm owner Daud now dreams of feed industry

MAGURA, Jan 7: The story is about an educated youth who is now dreaming to set up poultry feed industry after achieving outstanding success in poultry firming.

Daud Hossen, son of Abul Hossen of village Sonatondi under Srepur upazila of Magura deserve this glorious credit.

Daud Hossen obtained BA degree in 1990. But he did not show interest to any government or non-government service. From his boyhood he dreamt to do something different which can be helpful for the society as well as himself. The popular television programme Mati O Manush inspired Daud to do agro-based something. In 1990 Daud started to walk on his long cherished dream. He set up a poultry farm in Modhukali upazila headquarter under Faridpur upazila with only Tk 62,000 given by his elder brother. But in the first year his total profit stood at Tk only 375. But this meager profit did not dishearten Daud. He opened another poultry firm in village Taraujial adjacent to his village Sonatondi.

At the same time he also set up poultry feed shop in the same village. Due to Daud's hard work and persistence his poultry farm started to flourish day by day. At present Daud sells poultry birds of Tk 3 million while egg of Tk 0.9 million and poultry feed of Tk 8 million per month. That is his total sale in a year is Tk 150 million. His profit per month now stands at Tk 0.25 million. At the same time directly and indirectly 15 people are involved in his business. They earn their bread from his business. Being inspired with his success number of poultry farms have flourished in the village.

When contacted Daud said, "From my boyhood I dreamt to perform self employment which also can support others. Now I am walking on my dream. But I am yet to reach my goal. I am thinking to set up a poultry feed industry in my village. In the mean time I have purchased a land of 55 decimal for this purpose. Now if I get loan support I shall start my poultry feed industry to provide more than hundred people with employment."

Magura District Livestock Officer Kanai Lal Sharnaker said, "We are proud of Daud Hossein. When poultry farms are facing hard time Daud is working to set up poultry feed industry. His courage and achievement is highly appreciable.

Magura Sonali bank official said, "We are interested to provide Daud with loan facility. If he fulfils all conditions he will be provided with loan.
