Traffic on Shariatpur-Shibchar road remain suspended after bridge collapse

Traffic on the Shariatpur-Shibchar road remained suspended from Thursday night after a bailey bridge collapsed under the weight of an overloaded truck on the Kirtinasha river at Rajgaon-Arigaon area.

The bridge broke down later in the night after a transformer-laden truck tried to pass over the bridge, said Executive Engineer AKM Badsha of Local Government Department, reports UNB.

"We are trying to fix the bridge to normalize traffic movements within the shortest possible time," he added.

Meanwhile, people of the adjacent areas were suffering huge due to the incident.

Earlier in 2016 and 2017, the road communications were interrupted twice as the embankment was broke down due to heavy tide.
