Two workers die in blast on ship in Chattogram’s Karnaphuli

Two workers have died in an explosion on a ship in the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram’s Shikolbaha.

The blast occurred when they were welding metal pieces on the oil-carrying ship Desh-1 on Monday afternoon, Karnaphuli Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Abdul Matin said.

The deceased have been identified as ‘Rashed’, 21, from Noakhali and ‘Masum’, 23, from Cumilla, reports bdnews24.

Three other workers were injured in the blast, the SI said.

The ship’s owner or captain could be reached immediately for comment.
