A court in Jhenaidah convicted two people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for possessing drugs.
The convicts were identified as Harunur Rashid, son of Abdul Goni of Jashore district, and Golam Mostafa Masta, son of Harej Biswas of sadar upazila of the district.
The court on Thursday also fined them Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer one year more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, on February 16, 2012, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Harunur Rashid along with 500 bottles of phensidyl syrup from a truck seized in the district town.
Later, a case was filed against the truck driver and its owner in this connection, reports UNB.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional Sessions Judge Golam Azam handed down the verdict.
