Covered van hits motorbike killing two in Dhaka

Two people have been killed after a covered van hit a motorbike at Agargaon area in Dhaka city.

The accident took place near the children’s theme park Shishu Mela in Agargaon at around 11:30pm on Thursday, according to the police.

The dead have been identified as Rashed, 30, and Md Sakib, 29, who hailed from Barisal.

A covered van slammed into a motorbike from behind leaving Rashed dead at the scene, said Rubel Azad, sub inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.

Sakib died while receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Md Bachchu Mia, sub-inspector of DMCH police outpost, bdnews24 reports.

Police have seized the covered van and arrested its driver Monir Hossain, 35, said Sub-Inspector Rubel.
