Altercation over cricket match leaves one teen dead

A teenage boy was stabbed to death allegedly by his friends centring a cricket match in Charghoshpur village in Pabna Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Hamim Hossain, 15, son of Tofazzal Hossain of the village.

Goutam Kumar Ghosh, additional superintendent of Pabna police, said some boys were going to play cricket without taking the victim for playing with them.

Later, they locked in an altercation over the issue, according to UNB.

At one stage, one of the boys, Anik, brought a knife from his house and swooped on Hamim, leaving him critically injured. Another boy Wahzed also received injury when he tried to save Hamim.

Both, however, were taken to Pabna General Hospital where the doctors declared Hamim dead, the officer added.
