A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Natore’s Baraigram upazila on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Kabil Hossain, 45, of Char Gobindapur village in the upazila.

Sensing the movement of some people near Mahishbhanga Community Clinic, a team of RAB-5 challenged them around 11:45pm, said Azmal Hossain, commander of RAB-5.

Following the RAB challenge, the criminals opened fire on the elite force, forcing them to fire back in self-defence, reports UNB.

After a brief gunfight, the RAB members recovered the bullet-hit body of Kabil. He was wanted in a dozen of cases.

The elite force also recovered some Yaba tablets from the spot.
