A man has been killed in an alleged shootout with RAB in Pabna’s sadar upazila.

According to law enforcers, the incident occurred at around 3:30 am on Saturday in upazila’s Rajapur area.

RAB says the deceased, 45-year-old Tipu Sheikh, was a drug dealer.

He was accused in eight cases, which included drug-related charges, said RAB-12 Pabna Camp Commander Lt Commander Ruhul Amin.

RAB raided a building of Calico Cotton Mill in Rajapur after gaining report of an ongoing drug trade among the dealers there.

“The drug dealers opened fire when RAB arrived, forcing them to retaliate. Tipu was recovered from the area in critical condition after the shootout and taken to Pabna Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.”

Two RAB personnel were injured in the gunfight, according to RAB official Ruhul Amin, bdnews24 reported.

RAB says a revolver, five rounds of ammunition and 770 yaba tablets were seized from the scene.
