A tribunal in Sirajganj on Tuesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for violating a woman in 2005.
The convict was identified as Magrab Ali, son of Haran Ali of Maheshpur Purbapara village in Ullapara upazila.
The tribunal also fined the convict Tk 20,000 in default, to suffer three months more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Magrab Ali swooped on the house of the victim in Konabari vilalge in Ullapara upazila and violated her after tying her hands and legs on May 18, 2005.
The victim later filed a case with Ullapara Police Station.
After examining records and witnesses, Sirajganj Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Fazle Khoda Md Nazir handed down the verdict, reports UNB.
