A schoolboy was strangled by unidentified miscreants at Borogachi Bhatapara in Bholahat upazila in Chapainawabganj on Friday noon.

The deceased was identified as Rajib Ahmed, a class VII student of Borogachi Government High School and son of Ibrahim Ali, a resident of the village.

Quoting family members, Azim Uddin, sub-inspector of Bholahat Police Station, said Rajib went to sleep at their sugarcane grinding mill on Thursday night and later in the morning he was found missing.

Later around 12:30pm, locals spotted the body of Rajib lying in a wheat field near their house and informed police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Adhunik Hospital morgue for an autopsy, reports UNB.

After primary investigation, police suspected that Rajib might have been strangled.

Later, police detained Abdur Rauf, brother in law of the victim, and Mabia, mother of Abdur Rauf, for interrogation.

A case was filed in this connection, police said.
