An activist of a breakaway faction of Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS Reformist or MN Larma) was shot dead allegedly by the members of rival political party United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) at Jannanathpara in Ramgarh upazila on Monday evening.

The victim was identified as Mohon Tripura, 30, son of Krishna Tripura of Gazinagar in Matiranga upazila and an activist of PCJSS (MN-Larma) who recently deserted UPDF.

Victim’s brother Suman Tripura claimed that an armed group of UPDF men opened fire on Mohon Tripura at around 7:00pm, leaving him severely wounded.

He was taken to Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries, reports UNB.

Officer-in-Charge of Ramgarh Police Station Tarek Mohammad Abdul Mannan said UPDF men might have shot him as revenge for changing the party.
