A woman was slaughtered allegedly by his son at Dhubil Mehmanshahi village in Salanga thana of Sirajganj district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Zohura Begum, 55, reports UNB.
Waheduzzaman, officer-in-charge of Salanga Police Station, said locals held Zohura's son Tutul, 25, as they saw a bloodstained sharp weapon in his hand around 2:30pm.
Later, they found Zohura's slaughtered body in their house.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. They also arrested Tutul.
It is still not clear why Tutul killed his mother, the OC said.
A case was filed in this connection.
