A court in Chapainawabganj on Sunday convicted two people and sentenced them to death for killing a woman after rape in Mohanbagh area of Sibganj upazila in 2014.
The condemned convicts are Abdul Mannan, son of late Kantu Mandal and his second wife Sufia Begum of the area.
After examining all the records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Shawkat Ali handed down the verdict.
The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each and acquitted another accused Abul Bashar as his guilt could not be proved.
According to the case statement, Selina Begum, who used to work as a domestic help in various houses, was murdered by the convicts after being raped by Abdul Mannan on September 10, 2014, said Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Anjuman Aha.
On the next day, police recovered the hanging body from a mango orchard in Selimabad area in the upazila, UNB reported.
Later, victims' son Arif Hossain filed a murder case with Shibganj Police Station.
After investigation, Sub-inspector Lutfar Rahman submitted a chargesheet to the court on May 31, 2015, accusing Mannan, Sufia and Bashar.
