DB nab four ‘robbers’ in old Dhaka

Members of Detective Branch of police arrested four suspected robbers from different areas of the Old Dhaka on Monday night.

The arrestees were identified as Masud, Gazi, Md Idris, Md Asad and Faruk Ahmmed, a news agency reported.

Abdul Baten, joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan detective police, at a press briefing at DMP’s media centre on Tuesday said that a team of DB arrested Masud from the old part of city along with Tk 2 lakh.

After gleaning information from Masud, the team arrested Idris, Asad and Faruk from the same area along with Tk 11 lakh, he added.

The DB official also said that the arrestees had involvement with a robbery incident in a jewellery shop at Ray Saheb Bazar intersection under Kotwali Police Station.

A gang of robbers numbering 10-11 looted Tk 5,1 67,000 from the shop on December 14 last year.
