The government is observing the ‘Digital Bangladesh Day’ today (Wednesday) to make its Digital Bangladesh concept memorable.

The theme of the day is ‘Digital Bangladesh will be Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bangla’, reports BSS.

Earlier, the government took a decision at the November 27 cabinet meeting to observe December 12 as the National Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day.

The government, however, issued a notification on December 6 saying that from this year, December 12 will be observed as the ‘Digital Bangladesh Day’ instead of the ICT Day.

Marking the day, the ICT Division has chalked out daylong elaborate programmes to be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city today.

The programmes include giving citations to the Digital Bangladesh Award winners, RoboWar and puzzle game shows, discussions, a seminar, nationwide online essay and prize giving ceremony at the BICC while essay and painting competition will be held at district and upazila levels across the country.

Finance Minister M A Muhith is scheduled to be present in the citation giving programme as the chief guest at the BICC.

Prime Minister’s Political Affairs Adviser HT Imam, immediate past Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar and immediate past Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman are also supposed to be present in the programme as special guests.

Later, a seminar titled ‘Sonar Bangla and Digital Bangladesh’, and prize giving ceremony of RoboWar and online essay competition will be held at the same venue at 5.30 pm.

Mustafa Jabbar will address the programme as the chief guest while Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman will speak as the special guest.
