DMP collects over Tk 2.8m in fines from traffic offenders

Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday realised Tk 2.818 million in fines from traffic offenders.
A total of 4,827 cases were also filed against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, they said in a statement.
Of the cases, 1,018 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 105 for using hydraulic horns, nine for using hooters and beacon lights, and 17 others for using tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 2,334 cases and seized 130 motorcycles.
A total of 22 motorcyclists faced cases for using mobile phones while driving.
Apart from this, the traffic police dumped 39 vehicles and wrecked 760 others.
