Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Tuesday filed a total of 6,909 cases against different modes of vehicles for violating traffic rules, DMP said in a statement.
The department also realised Tk 3.7 million in fines from the traffic offenders.
Of the cases, 1,290 were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 218 for using hydraulic horns, 11 for using hooters and beacon lights, and 23 others for installing tinted glasses.
As for traffic violations by motorcycles, the traffic division filed 2,768 cases and seized 139 motorbikes.
A total of 26 motorcyclists also faced charges for using mobile phones while riding.
During the day-long drive, traffic police reportedly dumped 38 vehicles and wrecked 889 others.
