Drug suspect dies in Cox’s Bazar ‘shootout’

A drug suspect has died in an alleged shootout between two gangs of drug traders in Cox's Bazar.

The suspect was 35-year-old Mohammad Lalu, a resident of Domodmia area in Teknaf’s Nila Union.

The gunfight occurred on the bank of Naf in Teknaf in the early hours of Friday, said Pradip Kumar Das, chief of Teknaf Police Station.

Lalu was the member of the gang of the armed robbers led by a man named Abdul Hakim.

He was named in several cases on drug related charges, bdnews24 reported.

Police conducted a drive in the area after receiving the whereabouts of the shootout and upon arriving found the dead body, according to OC Das.

The lawmen recovered the body and also seized five shotguns, 6,000 yaba pills and six bullets from the scene.
