Four train roof passengers killed being hit by Hardinge Bridge girder in Pabna

At least four people were killed and five others injured after being hit by an overhead girder of Hardinge Bridge while travelling on a train roof at Pakshi in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna early Friday.

Two of the deceased were identified as Hakim, 17, son of Hafizar Rahman and Rabiul, 20, son of Jalaluddin of Shibganj upazila of Bogura district while the identities of others could not be known immediately.

Shahidul Islam, In-charge of Pakshi police camp, said some passengers who were travelling on the roof of Khulna-bound Inter-city Chitra Express Train from Dhaka fell from the roof after being hit by the girder of the bridge at Pakshi and Bheramara link point.

Four of them died on the spot while five others sustained injuries, UNB reported quoting Shahidul said.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to a local hospital.
