After busting illegal casinos inside three sport clubs in Dhaka, RAB raided three clubs in Chattogram and found gambling equipments there.

These are Mohammedan Sporting Club in Sadarghat area, Abahani Limited Club at Halishahar, and Muktijoddha Sangsad KC on Ice Factory Road.

RAB Executive Magistrate Nizamuddin led the drives in the port city on Friday evening and found gambling equipments in all three clubs.

When the law enforcers cordoned off the clubs earlier, RAB-7 Staff Officer ASP Mahmudul Hasan Mamun confirmed the raid to the media, reports bdnews24.com.

“We are sure that gambling took place here. We’ve found gambling chips, cards and papers. We’ve also found some tables, which we suspect were used for gambling,” Magistrate Nizamuddin told the media when the raid on Muktijoddha Sangsad was underway.

He also said some equipment might have been moved away from the club after the raids in Dhaka.

The RAB personnel found no-one in the club.

Police raided a club called 'Hangout’ at the port city's Almas intersection on Friday night. The club owner's son Khalikuzzaman and employee Rabul Hossain were arrested on charges of running unauthorised pool and snooker games.

RAB raided four clubs, including Young Men’s Club, in Dhaka on Wednesday and the home of its President and Dhaka Metropolitan Jubo League leader Khaled Mahmud Bhuiyan, who was later expelled by the organisation.

It also seized a huge amount of money, counterfeit currencies, drugs and gambling equipment in raids on the Wanderers Club in Fakirapool, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra in Gulistan and Golden Dhaka Bangladesh in Banani’s Ahmed Tower the same day.

As part of the government's crackdown on illegal casinos, the security forces arrested Kalabagan Krira Chakra President Shafiqul Alam Firoz and four others in a raid on the sport club in Dhaka on Friday.
