A suspected robber was killed in a 'shootout' between two groups of robbers in Feni’s Chagalnaiya upazila in the early hours of Thursday.

The dead man was identified as Mohiuddin Sabuj alias Sabuj, son of Abdul Motaleb of Chagalnaiya municipality area.

A team of police rushed to the spot after gaining information of a possible shootout between two rival groups of robbers at Betaga Project area, said MM Murshed, officer-in-charge of Chagalnaiya Police Station.

Sensing presence of law enforcers, some robbers managed to flee the scene.

However, two suspects - Palash and Faruk - with bullet wounds were arrested and admitted to Feni Sadar Hospital, according to a UNB report.

Police found body of Sabuj in a pool of blood. He was a member of an inter-district robber gang and also a listed criminal. Sabuj was wanted in eight cases, said Murshed.

Police also recovered one gun, five bullets, seven sharp weapons and one screw driver from the spot.
