A mason allegedly killed his wife in Tulatali area under Bakalia thana in the port city early Thursday over a family dispute.
The victim was identified as Rokshana Akter, 28, wife of mason Joynal Abedin who is a tenant of Ali Bhaban in Tulatali area, hailing from Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla district. Rokshana was a mother of two children.
Pranab Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakalia Police Station, said the victim and her husband lodged quarrel over a family matter, and at one stage, Joynal killed Roksana cutting her throat and fled away.
Being informed by locals and relatives of the victims, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for autopsy, reports BSS.
