Miscreants allegedly abducted two female activists of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) from Kutukchhari area in Rangamati on Sunday.

The victims are Monty Chakma and Doyashona Chakma, reports UNB.

In a statement, UPDF claimed that a group of miscreants invaded the area in the morning and opened fire on some UPDF men, leaving Dharma Singh Chakma injured.

They also picked up Monty and Doyashona and set a house afire before leaving the place.

Protesting the incident, locals blocked the Rangamati-Khagrachhari road for five hours.

The angry mob demanded that the two female UPDF activists be rescued soon and exemplary punishment be meted out to those involved in the incident.

Satyajit Barua, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said they were looking into the incident.
