The government has formulated a work plan for the first time to send 1,000 workers abroad per year from every upazila of the districts, which are lagging behind in sending workers abroad.

State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad gave the information while replying a starred question placed by treasury bench lawmaker Anwarul Abedin Khan (Mymensingh-9) in the Jatiya Sangsad in Dhaka on Thursday, reports BSS.

“It is open for all from the country’s all regions in going abroad as workers. No quota system is followed in this regard,” he said.

The state minister said workers are being sent to 173 countries so far and all data of the expatriate workers are recorded in a database.

He said the government has also a plan to formulate a separate database of the workers who return home from abroad.
