Normalcy returns at Suhrawardy

Day-to-day operations at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital have partly resumed after the Thursday’s devastating fire.

Out of 16 wards of the public hospital, 15 are now fully functional. Only the children ward is closed as the fire damaged it badly.

Nonetheless the admitted children are getting medical care from other wards, according to hospital authorities.

Earlier on Thursday evening, a fire broke out at the public hospital and badly affected its overall operation.

As many as 1,174 patients, who were staying in the hospital on the day the fire broke out, were shifted to other medical institutions after the incident.

After discharging some, about 700 have returned to the hospital till the writing of this report.  

Out of 10 Intensive Care Units (ICU), eight is now fully operational.
