PM hosts iftar for freedom fighters, orphans, relatives

She seeks cooperation of all in making Bangladesh prosperous

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday hosted an iftar party for war-wounded freedom fighters (FFs), orphans, physically-challenged children, Islamic scholars and her family members and relatives at Ganabhaban.

In her address at the programme, Sheikh Hasina sought the cooperation of all in making the country prosperous by freeing it from militancy, terrorism, drugs, corruption, hunger and poverty.

"Pray for Bangladesh and its people. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman presented the independence of this country. He had dreamt of building a hunger- and poverty-free Bangladesh, and the Bangalee nation to a dignified position in the world arena," she said.

The Prime Minister extended Ramadan Mubarak and greetings to the people of the country and the Muslim Ummah throughout the world.

Survivors of the August 21 grenade attack, and members of the National Committee for Celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, National Implementation Committee for Celebration of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust were also invited to join the iftar party.

Before the iftar, a munajat was offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mufti Maulana Mizanur Rahman conducted the munajat.

Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of the August 15 massacre as well as martyrs of the War of Liberation and the long life and good health of the Prime Minister.
