PM off to Riyadh on 4-day official visit to Saudi Arabia

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Riyadh on Tuesday on a four-day bilateral visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.

Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have plans to sign two documents on defence and ICT cooperation.

The agreements are Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation between Bangladesh and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and another on Cooperation in ICT Sector.

The nations also plan to ink MoUs on a number of other agreements that are both in public and private sectors.

The premier and her entourage departed on a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Hazrat Shajalal International Airport at 3:45 pm. The flight is scheduled to reach King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh at 7:00 pm (local time) the same day.

Governor of Riyadh Prince Faisal bin Bandar and Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia Golam Moshi will receive the Prime Minister at the airport.

Prime Minister Hasina will meet King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz al Saud at his royal palace on Wednesday afternoon after meeting with leaders of Council of Saudi Chamber (CSC) and Riyadh Chamber of Commerce at her place of residence in the morning.

PM Hasina will depart Riyadh for Madinah by air on Wednesday at 7:30 pm (local time) and scheduled to reach Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport at 9:00 pm (local time).

She will offer ziarat at the Rowza Mobarak of Holy Prophet (PBUH) at Masjid Al-Nabawi on Wednesday night then will lay the foundation stone of Bangladesh Chancery building at the Diplomatic Quarters in Riyadh on Thursday.

The Prime Minister will leave Madinah for Jeddah by air and reach King Abdul Aziz International Airport at 11:15 am (local time).

There she will perform Umrah after Esha prayers. She will also offer prayers at Masjid Al Haram in Makkah, reports UNB.

On Friday, the premier is scheduled to return Dhaka at 11:45 am (local time).
