Police detain 65 during anti-narcotics drive in city

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a special anti-narcotics drive arrested 65 suspects from different areas of Dhaka city for selling and consuming illegal drugs.

A special team of DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police and other law officials, launched the drives in various places of the capital, according to a DMP statement issued on Thursday.

The 24-hour drive led to a seizure of 5,807 pieces of sedative yaba tablets, over 364 grams heroin, and over 300 grams cannabis from their possessions.

A total of 39 cases were filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.

The drive began at 6:00am on Wednesday and ended at 6:00am on Thursday, the statement added.
