Police detain three over madrasa student death in Feni

A madrasa student was found hanging from a window grill the premises of the institution in Feni on Thursday evening.

The student was identified as Zahurul Islam, 13, son of Abdul Awal of East Ukilpara in Feni district town.

Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Feni Model Police Station said other students of Hamida Sadia Mohila Madrasa peeped into the Zaharul’s room as there was no response from him. The students at around 5:15 pm found Zaharul was hanging from a window grill.

Police later recovered the body from Lalpol area in Sadar upazila and sent it to local hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police detained three teachers of the madrasa for interrogation, the OC added.

Amzad Hossain, paternal uncle of the victim, said Zahurul got admitted to the madrasa in January and the kid often complained that the teachers of the institute used to torture him, reports UNB.

Claiming that Zahurul couldn't commit suicide, his uncle alleged the boy was tortured to death.
